The key change (which affects us, not you) is that the
program is now compiled using Borland Delphi 7 which has enabled us to make
some enhancements to the user interface. If you are running Windows 95 or
Windows NT4 you must install (if you have not already done so) a copy of
Internet Explorer 5 or 6, which is included on most computer magazine cover
disks. This updates certain parts of the Windows 95 to current standards.
Windows 98/ME/2000/XP incorporate the required components.
This release has been reassessed and approved by BRE as it also incorporates
a change affecting SAP Ratings.
- If you are running the program under Windows XP you will now see XP style
buttons (with rounded corners and which shimmer if you hold the mouse over
them) and other refinements. As part of this change you can no longer change
the program desktop colour.
- The toolbar now displays captions under the toolbar buttons. To change the
font used or turn them off, right click on the toolbar and select the
appropriate option.
- The help file now uses Microsoft HTML Help with an index down the left hand
side. The new help file is called SH5.CHM. The old file SH5.HLP can be deleted
once the new version is installed and you have confirmed that the online help
works correctly
- For dwellings the Carbon Index is now shown on the Building Summary
- The compliance (or otherwise) of the current building with the various AD
methods was shown on the on-screen Building Summary but not on the printout, as
in some instances (e.g if you were doing a SAP Rating of an existing building)
including it could be unhelpful or confusing. You can now choose whether this
is printed or not from within the Building Details dialog
- An additional menu option on the Building menu with two sub options lets
you globally change the construction of all the external walls in the current
or the window frame/glazing specification to whatever you select
- An 'Undo' option (Ctrl+Z) has been added to the Building menu and toolbar.
This lets you undo the last 10 operations
- For dwellings with communal heating systems the list of permissible fuels
has been extended to include anthracite grains, biomass, biogas and household
waste. You can now enter a solar panel area for dwellings with communal
heating, though obviously this is only relevant when the dwelling has its own
h.w. cylinder
- You can now copy data from the SEDBUK boiler database browser to the
clipboard: press Ctrl+C or right click and select 'Copy' from the popup menu to
copy data for the selected boiler (a similar change has been made to the
free QSEDBUK boiler database browser available on our
website)

Release 5.02e: 8 July 2003
|
-
Fixes a bug that could cause lockups when the SEDBUK database file was
not loaded
|
Release 5.02d: 24 June
2003
|
-
The Screen and Printer font selection dialogs have been combined into
one, which now lets you choose the line spacing and space allotted to blank
lines.
-
The Page Heading Template dialog has been improved slightly
-
Bug fixed that would cause a program hang if a semi-exposed element
referenced a non-existent construction
|
Release 5.02c: 13 May
2003
|
-
In previous releases when checking against the Part J (Scotland)
Target U-value provisions the target was incorrectly increased when using a
boiler with a higher efficiency than the reference standard. This is correct in
England & Wales but not in Scotland and the necessary change has been made
-
By user request a new use, 'Existing dwelling' has been added. This is
for when you are producing a SAP Rating for an existing house or flat and omits
the lines on the Building Summary relating to checking using Part L/J/F
and compliance or otherwise with the various methods.
-
Extensions and loft conversions: The previous use 'Extension to
dwelling' had the effect of applying a U-value of 0.3 to roofs with insulation
between the rafters rather than 0.2. This concession (Part L only) only
applies in the case of a room in an existing roof and not to a new external
extension with insulation between the rafters. An additional use 'Loft
conversion to existing dwelling' has been added: when this is selected the 0.3
U-value is used when checking to Part L; for other extensions 0.2 is now
used.
-
Domestic extensions (E&W Part L only): If checking to Part L there
is now an additional field in the Project Details dialog in which you can enter
the area of openings being covered up by the extension. When checking an
extension using the Elemental Method the permissible opening area is 25% of the
floor area of the extension + the area of openings covered up by the extension
(1.14.a). Previously a note was printed to indicate that the latter might
apply; now the calculation is done for you.
-
Bug fixed that (temporarily) lost heading list if your program and user
settings were in two different INI files
|
Release 5.02b: 22 March
2003
|
-
This release fixes a bug which stops building files being read in if
the area of a ground floor was 1000m² or more.
-
We have slightly tightened the line spacing on printouts so that in
some cases a report which extended onto a second page will now fit on one.
-
Alternate rows in edit tables (openings in walls and roofs; material in
element of construction edit dialog; external documents) are now displayed in
two different colours which can be changed from within the Configuration,
Colours dialog.
